The 3rd annual Moe Rosensteel Memorial Kickoff Classic
August 24, 2024 at Joe Montana Stadium on the campus of Ringgold High School in Monongahela, PA.
The 3rd Annual Moe Rosensteel Memorial Kickoff Classic was held on August 24, 2024 at Joe Montana Stadium on the campus of Ringgold High School in Monongahela, PA. The event hosted four games over the day which provides healthy and fun competition. The four games were expected to bring in 800 to 1,000 players, families, and patrons.
2024 Moe Rosensteel Ugly Golf Shirt Scramble

This annual event is where you can break out that ugly golf shirt that is sitting in the back of your closet and wear it with pride.
The Kaitlyn “Moe” Rosensteel Scholarship Foundation held its 2nd Annual Ugly Golf Shirt Scramble on October 6 at Butler's Golf Course. As expected, it was an exciting and fun time for all.

Congratulations to Andi Householder of Burrell High School
Andi is the winner of the 2024 Kaitlyn “Moe” Rosensteel Scholarship. Upon graduation, Andi will be attending the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg to major in Psychology and will be part of the women’s Bobcat soccer team.

Sophia is the winner of the 2023 Kaitlyn “Moe” Rosensteel Scholarship. Upon graduation, Sofia will be attending James Madison University to major in Elementary Education and will be part of the women’s soccer team.

Inspirational Soccer Standouts Honored with ‘Moe’ Rosensteel Scholarships

The Kaitlyn “Moe” Rosensteel Scholarship Foundation planned to award one scholarship to a deserving WPIAL girls soccer player in the name of the late Ringgold and travel soccer standout and West Virginia Wesleyan recruit who was killed in June of 2019 by a lightning strike at Mammoth Park in Mt. Pleasant Township.
The idea is to recognize those who display Rosensteel’s traits — leadership and a passion for the game among them.
Some of the entry essays and interviews were so good, the foundation decided to choose two winners.

The WPIAL and local soccer community took time Tuesday to again honor the late Kaitlyn “Moe” Rosensteel, a former Ringgold and travel soccer standout and West Virginia Wesleyan recruit who was killed by a lightning strike — along with Greensburg Central Catholic baseball player Brendan McGowan — in June 2019 at Mammoth Park in Mt. Pleasant Township.
Oct. 6 would have been Rosensteel’s 20th birthday.

Ed Rosensteel was at Ringgold, where the Rams charged out to an early lead, and never looked back in a 5-0 win as Abby Whaley had a hat trick. In addition, Ringgold paid tribute by playing the game in honor of Ed’s late daughter, and former RInggold Ram captain, Kaitlyn “Moe” Rosensteel.
Inaugural Kaitlyn ‘Moe’ Rosensteel Most Outstanding Player of the Year: Ellie Coffield (Mars High School)

Ellie Coffield, Mars High School, Class of 2021 and a University of Pittsburgh commit, just recently helped lead Mars to a WPIAL Class 3A Title and the second PIAA State Title in the school’s history. Coffield’s contributions went far beyond her goal and assist totals, as she contributed 21 goals in the regular season through the WPIAL playoffs, but, more importantly, provided a valuable leadership role as a box-to-box midfielder on a team that finished the season without a loss.

Kaitlyn “Moe” Rosensteel was taken from her family, friends and the soccer community on June 13, 2019. My family is proud to work in collaboration with Pittsburgh Soccer Now and the Kaitlyn “Moe” Rosensteel Scholarship Foundation to announce the Annual Moe Rosensteel Most Outstanding Player of the Year Award and honor its first recipient in 2019.
Duquesne Comes Back Again, Honors ‘Moe’ in Victory

Prior Sunday’s game, Duquesne honored Kaitlyn ‘Moe’ Rosensteel on her birthday. Rosensteel and her friend, Brendan McGowan, passed away June 13 as each was struck by lightning at a Westmoreland County park.
“It’s a huge loss for soccer in Western Pennsylvania and their family obviously,” Alvine said. “She was a really popular kid that everybody really loved. It was nice to have a chance to recognize her today on her birthday. It makes it even more special.”

Our family is hurting.
We are devastated, angry, confused and just sad beyond belief. Just when you think you cannot cry anymore, we do. There are so many reminders in front of us of our daughter. Our life will never be the same. Our daughter, Kaitlyn ‘Moe’ Rosensteel, was taken from us on Thursday and we never got to say goodbye, we never got to hold her.
Pittsburgh Soccer Community Mourns Loss of ‘Absolutely Great, Great Kid’

The Pittsburgh Soccer community is mourning the loss of one of its own.
On Friday morning, the tragic news was revealed that Kaitlyn E. “Moe” Rosensteel, 18, of Donora, and her friend Brendan A. McGowan, 18, of North Huntingdon, were the two individuals who were struck and killed by lightning at 4 p.m. on Thursday while fishing at a Westmoreland County park.

When the Rosensteel family tragically lost their daughter, the Western Pennsylvania soccer community embraced them, consoled them and did their best to help them through the grieving process. Five months later, her father has formed the Kaitlyn “Moe” Rosensteel Scholarship Foundation — along with a unique award.
